Holiday 2012 – Welcome!

It’s that time again — time to pack up family and friends, grab some hot chocolate and drive through the Quincy’s incredible AVENUE OF LIGHTS!

Just of North 36th Street, Avenue of Lights takes over the Wavering/Moorman Park complex with more than 350 separate pieces and over 15 miles of lights.

Winding through the park you’ll see amazing displays of lights set in fun, visually stunning arrangements. And remember, everyone who works at the Avenue of Lights is a volunteer, and all the displays were donated by local businesses and organizations, and from entrance fees.

Admission is just $8 per vehicle.
Unfortunately, vans over 15 passengers are not allowed, to avoid damage to the park’s roads.

The 2011 opening of Avenue of Lights is just less than a month away! We’re looking forward to seeing carloads of friends again this year.

We’ll open the gates on November 24th, with the final day of the season being January 1st, 2012.

Due to rising costs we’ve had to raise the entrence fee to $8 per car this year. But remember, that’s per vehicle — pile as many friends & relatives in as you can!

If you’ve not been to Avenue of Lights this year, you’re running out of time! Our volunteers will be out and ready to welcome you in through Saturday, January 1st… after that, you’ll have to wait until next year!

Bring along mugs of hot chocolate, your family & friends, and enjoy a spectacular site at this Quincy tradition!

The Avenue of Lights is best viewed while listening the cheerfully delightful Christmas music playing on 87.9FM! Broadcasting just within range of Moorman-Wavering Park, our low-power station plays all the holiday hits you’d expect — plus a few that might surprise you!

We’re Open!

Avenue of Lights 2010 is open! We had a wonderful crowd at last night’s opening and expect even more tonight. If you’re in the Christmas spirit or just want to see a beautiful display of lighted displays in a delightful setting of rolling hills and lakes, come on out!

Tonight’s volunteers are from the Adams County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Saturday’s volunteers are from St. James Lutheran School and Sunday we’ll be staffed by folks from the Adams County Special Olympics.

The Avenue of Lights is completely volunteer-driven — no one takes a salary, and all of the work is donated. If you’d like to volunteer to help out, we’d love to hear from you.

This year volunteers — businesses, nonprofits, families and individuals — have already staffed the main positions, but we can always find a place for you if you’d like to help us out.

The 2010 Avenue of Lights kicks off Thanksgiving Day and as you may have noticed, we’re busy putting the finishing touches on the displays!

We’re excited and looking forward to hearing how you like the displays this year. We’ve gone to a great deal of effort to make sure that all the lights are lit and the displays arranged as attractively as possible.

Don’t forget to tune in to the Avenue of Lights station on your car radio, and as always, enjoy your visit!
